A young drifter is robbed by two other hobos after hopping off a train. Making his way to a country store, he's offered refuge from the rain by the young woman and her father who run the business. During the night the store is robbed and the old man is murdered. The drifter's first instinct is to run, but he quickly figures out who the real murderers are.

Early role for Brian Keith
The thin line between good and evil gets thinner when one is down on his luck. This time, the line nearly was stepped on, but it wasn't crossed.
I'm not too sure about how much common sense the daughter has, and I'm not too sure how much awareness she has about the likely thinness of the line in the future.
Look for Brain Keith when he was calling himself Robert Keith, Jr.
